1. Purge before you pack.
A wise man once said "packing is easier if you take less stuff"...that wise man was me, but it's still true. Before you throw everything into boxes, take inventory of your belongings and only take what you truly need an want. Each of your items can be put into the following categories:
2. Hang ten.
Hangable clothing is a pain to take down, fold, and then re-hang. So.. why not just leave it all on the hangers. Lauren Conrad suggests " tying groups of 10-or-so hangers together using rubber bands. For added protection, you can create a makeshift garment bag for each bundle using a plastic trash bag."
3. Call in Sick from Work
No seriously. Many moving companies have cheaper rates on weekdays, so take the day off, handle your move, and then celebrate with your friends.
4. Green Box It
No no, I said green box it, not hot box it... kid these days. If anyone knows how to go green, its the Millennial generation. In case you haven't already heard, Green Box has created a way to rent plastic boxes for less than the price of purchasing cardboard boxes. Check it out on their website.
5. Use a reputable moving company
This is crucial. Moving companies, much like massage parlors, can either be very good or very shady. To protect yourself, your property, and your finances, go with a trusted moving company. Look at reviews, ask if they are DOT approved, and look to see if they are a member of the Better Business Bureau for starters.
At Tidewater Moving, our goal has always been to make the moving process as simple and painless as possible. Our rates are extremely affordable, so call (757-470-0565) or email (email@example.com) us today for a free quote. We can't wait to hear from you!
